Dti Meets Congen Suraj Vaidya & Npcci Delegates @ Manila Fame- October 17, 2015, SMX Convention Center, Seashell Ln, Pasay 1300, Manila


Highlights

A meeting was set at SMX Convention Center with Department of Trade and Industry. Our group with our Hon. Suraj Vaidya, Consul General of the Philippine Consulate in Nepal, Head of our Delegation to Manila Fame, to meet with all exhibitors and supplier that DTI/CITEM had identified as of interest or products that might be feasible in Nepal, based on our previous discussions and exploration with NPCCI.
In between our meetings with product exhibitors and suppliers, we were able to meet Mr. Senen Perlada, Director IV Head CITEM.

During the meeting between Congen Vaidya and Mr. Perlada, the following were proposed and discussed;

  • Twinning of Chamber and Creation of PH-NEPAL- Business Counterpart Council;
  • Nepal-Philippine Chamber of Commerce---to appoint its Business Counterpart Council in the Philippines.
  • At the recommendation of Congen Vaidya, Dr. Jose Paolo Campos, Jr. Consul of Nepal Consulate in the Philippines will be the representation of the NPCCI in the Philippines as Business Counterpart Council.
  • Nepal-Philippines Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NPCCI) ---to meet with Philippines Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI).
  • Ms. Melvin Joves, Liaison Officer for Nepali Delegation delegated to write to PCCI President and Consul Campos regarding the proposal and recommendation and at the same time solicit responses.

Congen Vaidya to Mr. Perlada

  • Nepali delegation is to attend/participate on a regular basis the biggest trade fair exhibition in the country, such as, Manila fame and IFEX.
  • Philippine delegation to send its delegates and attend as well international trade fair shows that are conducted in Nepal, in support of NPCCI in showcasing Philippine made products.
  • Bringing in Technical support from the Philippines to help Nepalese in developing products, as Nepal has raw materials that can be used.
  • Business possibilities in Nepal which Philippines can take interest in, such as, wellness, education services, infrastructures projects.

Meeting with Mr. Perlada were followed by more meetings with exhibitors.
Majority of exhibitors met were manufacturers of specialized beauty and wellness personal care, and beverages made out of coconut, canned and bottled fish, and shell decorative items.

All these products are unique in kind and appearance, and taste and flavor that might be sale able in Nepal.
In total, there were 10 exhibitors that we judged to be of particular interest for Nepal.

Headed by Congen Vaidya, we ordered and purchased products that would be of used as samples to test the local markets in Nepal. All these orders were given to CITEM to send to Nepal by shipment under government negotiation. Consolidator under PTIC in Philippines was recommended by Department of Trade and Industry
